Frequently asked questions
A penis pump (also known as a vacuum erection device) is a medical device designed to help men achieve and maintain an erection. It works by creating negative pressure (a vacuum) around the penis, which draws blood into the erectile tissue and causes it to swell and become firm.
Although everything you need is in the kit, a pump is safe for use alongside other treatments like medication or shockwave therapy.
Vacuum pumps are popular and highly effective treatments for erectile dysfunction and even have an 80% success rate in men who did not respond to medications (Zhang, 2015).

The three Medintim pumps are sorted into two categories, those that are used to aid sex and those that are used for penile training.
The Active3 and Manual are two pumps designed for men who need to achieve and maintain erections for sex. They can be used to discreetly create an erection and then keep the blood in the penis using a ring. The ring should be taken off within 30 minutes. The only difference between the two pumps is that the Active3 has an automatic vacuum system. Just hold down the button and watch your penis become erect.
The Rehabi is a penile vacuum trainer, meaning it is used to create erections as part of a pelvic health plan related to ED, Peyronie's or post prostatectomy care. If you are only interested in the penile training and do not need help with erections during sex, this is the best pump for you.

Medintim pumps are not available on the NHS. NHS prescriptions for vacuum erection devices have become limited to certain medical cases, such as diabetes or severe refractory ED. Most men now find it easier and more convenient to invest in a one-time purchase of a high-quality medical device they can use privately and reliably whenever needed.

Yes. When used correctly and according to instructions, Medintim pumps are very safe. Each device includes a pressure release valve to prevent excessive vacuum and is manufactured to medical standards. Mild temporary redness or slight swelling can occur but usually subsides quickly. Some bruising can occur in some patients who are susceptible to bruising.
You should consult a doctor first if you have prior issues related to bleeding/bruising, have undergone surgery in the last 6 weeks or have extreme Peyronie's curvature.

Medintim pumps are certified medical devices designed to safely treat erectile dysfunction with precise vacuum control and medical-grade materials. Medintim invest more in research and development than any other pump manufacturer. Sex-toy pumps may look similar but are not medically certified, often lack safety valves or consistent pressure, and are intended for novelty rather than reliable therapeutic use.
